Add a tablespoon of salt to your wash every time you launder something for the first time. It stops colors from bleeding and I have certainly been there and have done that more than a few times.
And no, I’m not telling you to add pink salt to your wash. I just liked the picture ;)

Got to ask, but seriously? I’ve never heard this before…does the salt stick to clothes or create a smell though?

No sticking and no smell. I suppose that it dissolves in the water. It is one of those “old wive’s tales” or something. I can remember my mom doing it. Have no idea why it works, but it does.
